We Love Our Halloween!
It’s no “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” or” Night of the Living Dead.” Still, once in the 1990s, the peaceful waterfront city of St. Helens was overrun by something worse than zombies or headless horsemen — a Hollywood movie crew! Now, every Sept. 28–Oct. 31, the lovely Oregon town just 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Portland transforms into a Halloween haven. Events include costume contests, trick-or-treating through St. Helens’ Old Town District, haunted tours, and scarecrows galore. Visitors will find a fun atmosphere, decorations, and photo opportunities at every turn, including carved pumpkin displays and a replica of the vintage taxi driven by Benny, the skeleton cab driver in the “Halloweentown” movie.

Portland Marathon
Experience the best of Rose City at the fast and beautiful Portland Marathon presented by OHSU Health. They feature four bridge crossings, a downtown start and finish, and a scenic tour of iconic landmarks and neighborhoods. Join the 52nd running with options including a marathon, half marathon, kids run, and a new 10K distance for 2024. Be part of the excitement on October 6th as 9,000 runners take over downtown Portland. Pet Of The Month
ORION
Introducing our charming Pet Of The Month: Orion, an 11-year-old feline born in a litter of all-black cats, each named after constellations. Orion enjoys hunting for toys, kneading biscuits, playfully stealing items, lounging on his collection of toys like a dragon's hoard, and observing birds from the balcony. When Orion was a kitten, he suffered an ear infection that has since healed but left him with a permanent head tilt, adding to his curious appearance. Before relocating to the city, Orion slipped out of the house one Halloween night disguised as a bat and ventured around the neighborhood for trick-or-treating fun.
New Team Member
Juan Rincon has been a valued member of the Kearney Plaza Team for a few months now! As our Porter and Maintenance Specialist, Juan brings a wealth of experience and a positive attitude to our community. With his favorite quote, “It is amazing how much you can accomplish when it doesn’t matter who gets the credit,” we're confident Juan is an invaluable asset to our team and a fantastic neighbor.
