Pet Of The Month
April Pet of the Month: Tobio! 🐱🎂
Kearney Plaza’s Pet of the Month: Meet Tobio!
April is a big month for Tobio, as she officially enters the "Terrible Twos"—though we prefer to think of it as her "Iconic Era." This spirited girl marches to the beat of her own drum, with a daily playlist that ranges from the swagger of M.I.A.’s Bad Girls to the classic energy of Diana Ross’s I'm Coming Out.
A true neighborhood explorer, Tobio lives by a strict code: no smell is left unsniffed. When she isn't busy investigating every scent Kearney Plaza has to offer, you can find her perched by the window, intently watching the local crows roosting in the trees. While she famously turns up her nose at traditional soft beds (human or pet!), she has a refined taste for unconventional luxury—frequently choosing coats, sunhats, and backpacks as her preferred nap spots. Don't let her "bad girl" playlist fool you, though; she’s a professional cuddler who recently set a personal lap-nap record of five hours in a single session. If you see Tobio out and about this month, be sure to wish her a very happy 2nd birthday!

Local Feature
Blue Moon Tavern & Grill
Neighborhood Icon: McMenamins Blue Moon Tavern & Grill
A cornerstone of the Northwest Alphabet District since 1985, the Blue Moon Tavern & Grill is much more than just a local pub—it’s a piece of Portland history. Known for its soaring 12-foot neon pagoda sign and vibrant Art Deco-inspired murals, the Blue Moon offers a warm, "Bavarian hominess" that makes it the perfect spot to gather. Whether you’re settling in by the cozy central fire pit, challenging a neighbor to a round of shuffleboard or pool, or enjoying the breeze from the large windows that open onto NW 21st Avenue, the atmosphere is classic Portland. Be sure to try their signature Cajun Tots or a "Communication Breakdown" burger alongside a fresh pint of Hammerhead ale. Plus, if you're out for a stroll with your four-legged roommate, their sidewalk seating is perfectly pet-friendly!

The 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade
Celebrate 20 Years of Roses: The 82nd Avenue Parade
Get ready to bloom! The 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade returns for its landmark 20th year on Saturday, April 25, 2026. This year’s theme, "History of East Portland," celebrates the incredible diversity of our neighborhood with a vibrant procession of floats, marching bands, and classic cars. The fun isn't limited to just the parade, though—the entire weekend (April 24–26) is packed with a Funtastic Carnival, a vintage car show, and a bustling farmers' market. Whether you're cheering from the sidelines or exploring the food carts, it’s the ultimate way to shake off the winter chill and connect with the heart of our community. 🌹
